"DESERT HAWK" Necklace
The sterling silver hawk is hand hammered with the Fold Forming method, and is carrying a picture agate.
The fundamental aspect of the agate is acceptance. One is reminded to accept circumstances although they may seem not to be nourishing at the time.
The hawk sees forever and will remind you that you have the vision to see through the moment to better times.
"ANCIENT HEART" Neckpiece
The sterling symbol may be interpreted as the Heart Chakra or as the Star of David. It captures prehistoric amber, and is suspended from set carnelian gemstones. The amber contains prehistoric insects.
The neckpiece is leather, braided in the Kumihimo method and finished by a hand forged sterling chain and clasp.
"RUBY HEART" Neckpiece
Anahata, the Heart Chakra, captures an uncut raw ruby. This neckpiece is also Kumihimo braid.
"SCARABS" Neckpiece
Fire from below the water
Scarabs sculpted and cast in sterling, turquoise, bone, and red jasper beads; manufactured ruby. The turquoise represents protection from harm and connection to the spirit world. The Egyptian Scarab is a symbol of Khepri, the early morning symbol of the sun god Ra, an analogy between the beetle's behavior of rolling a ball of dung across the ground, and Khepri's task of rolling the sun across the sky. The sterling element behind the ruby represents wave forms
The leather neckpiece is adjustable.
"WOLF SPIDER" Neckpiece
This piece is a cast from a real wolf spider who came to rest in my studio. The Spider is bronze and the ring is braided sterling. The beads are Mala Prayer beads. The neckpiece is leather braided in the Japanese Kumihimo transitioning to an 8 strand western braid..
ORNAMENT
The tradition of Ornament which I follow is based on the universal brought to the individual. Some may refer to the kind of pieces which I craft as Talisman or Amulet. My choice when I have it is to design and fabricate pieces specifically for the individual and the individual's psyche.
Really, an amulet or talisman is simply a reminder which is written in the language of material and design.  Or perhaps a visual key to a set of beliefs or attributes.  Following you will find pieces which evolved in 2011 based around my becoming acquainted with the symbols for the Chakras of the human
body. All of the pieces below are for sale or barter.
"Ajna" Neckpiece
The lower element of the piece is the Chakra "Ajna",  or the Third Eye, which is sterling with blue enamel. The beads are jadeite and agate. I consider the space that I gaze into when I am seeking understanding is a blue-green space- perhaps the ocean. The sterling drop implies motion theough a space.

"Swadhisthana"  Neckpiece
The Sacrak Chakra is the seat for a round turquoise. The assembly of mounted turquoise and sleeve-captured jadeite cylinders suggests the spinal structure. Peeking through the hand-knotted leather neckpiece is a green silk cord. The metal and textile structures are echoes in hard and soft mediums.
These neckpieces are based on  "Anahata" , the Heart Chakra, which is capturing the fire of the ruby and the amber, representing the two aspects of the heart; passion and friendship.
"Sky Heart" Neckpiece
Here I used the symbol for the Heart Chakra, holding a piece of sky- a manufactured sapphire. I surrounded the stone with an open sterling braid, representing the clouds.
The Neckpiece is a Japanese Kumihimo weave.
Beaded Neckpiece
This is a substantial meditation in braiding with no meaning other than ornamentation. The center beads are lapis lazuli, the others carnelian and bone. The braided material is leather.

"SCARABS" Neckpiece
Support the Earth
Scarabs sculpted and cast in sterling, turquoise, and lapis lazuli beads.  The Egyptian Scarab is a symbol of Khepri, the early morning symbol of the sun god Ra, an analogy between the beetle's behavior of rolling a ball of dung across the ground, and Khepri's task of rolling the sun across the sky.
The leather neckpiece is adjustable.
